Born in Lagos 2nd September, 1941, Engr. Babajide Akinremi Soyode attended CMS Grammar School, Lagos from 1956 – 1960.  In 1961, he won an ASPAU award and proceeded to the United States among the pioneer set of ASPAU scholars.

He studied Chemical Engineering at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana and obtained Bachelor of Science Degree in 1965. Thereafter, he proceeded to Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York for the Master’s Degree, also in Chemical Engineering, until 1967.

Engr. Soyode had professional experience at Rohn & Haas Company in Bristol, Pennsylvania from 1967 – 1971, and at Sun Oil Company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from 1971 – 1974 before joining the Nigerian National Oil Corporation in July, 1974 as Senior Process Engineer, and was assigned to the Warri Refinery Project.  NNOC was merged with the then Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources to form the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC in 1977.  Engr. Soyode was transferred from coordinating engineering design of Warri Refinery in May, 1977 to start-up of the Kaduna Refinery Project, also as Project Coordinator.

In October, 1977 Engr. Soyode returned to Warri Refinery Project to coordinate the final phase of construction of the Refinery, and to prepare it for commissioning eventually in September, 1978.  He was appointed the first indigenous Refinery Manager in 1980 and the second General Manager in October, 1985.  Other positions held in NNPC until retirement in April, 1990 included those of General Manager, Kaduna Refinery, General Manager, Petroleum Inspectorate, and the first Group General Manager, Corporate Planning and Development.

On entering the private Sector in May, 1990, Engr. Soyode established B.A. Soyode & Company Ltd. to provide process engineering design and project management services to the Oil & Gas Industry.  The company later transformed to Atlas Poligenics Ltd. in 2005.

With a group of friends, Engr. Soyode founded Petrodata Management Services in 1995, which provides data storage services, electronic document management services, and cloud data storage services.  He is currently chairman of the company.  Engr. Soyode is also founder and CEO of Frezone Plant Fabrication International Limited, which provides equipment and plant fabrication services, and he is chairman of Enerserve Technology & Services Limited, which renders equipment, materials, and technical supply services to the Oil & Gas, Power, Water and Agricultural Industries.

Engr. Soyode is a Past President and Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers, and a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering.

He is married to Olayinka Eniola Areogun, and both are blessed with 4 children, Aderemi, Oluseye, Akinola and Damilola.
